Trends in social Media by Sourav Maharana

Social media is constantly evolving. social media has great potential to evolve into something much greater than ever. The way social media have been developing is quite fascinating. After Facebook was launched back in 2004, the way we are connected to the internet has changed than ever since. It is a revolutionary on the internet in my opinion.
It’s no longer just a place for your family and friends to share old and embarrassing photos of you every Thursday. It’s a career now.  A platform to grow and earn for living.
As a career, you need to learn how to properly leverage these platforms to your advantage. Being active on social media is huge, and it’s necessary for your survival.
I analysed data from previous years and determined what trends saw a steady incline. Plus, even though the year isn’t over yet, I was able to see which new developments were the most prominent in these early months.
I predict that these trends will continue in the coming year. It’s important for you and your brand to stay on top of things right now.

More privacy and security
Privacy has always been the main concern on social media and the internet as a whole. This is because, on a platform like this, we have our information exposed to the platform. Is our information really safeguarded?
Because of the way social media are designed, there is no way we can avoid this (provide our information to them). But what we have really seen is they are pushing towards data privacy and security more than ever before. Facebook has gone through major updates and renovation in terms of data management. Other platforms are following the footprints as they have become alerted and they knew that this is going to be a major factor and issues in the near future.
Don’t believe me?
Check out this data from Google trends in the last five years. You can clearly see that the trend is rising year on year.

Data segmentation and the use of AI
AI has become the future of a human generation.
Because it can help reduce the workload of human beings, as well as mimic human intelligence, They are the next big thing.
With this advantage, social media platforms have implemented AI into their algorithm in recent years.
The algorithm is mostly responsible for ranking social posts, deciding which contents to display to which type of users, groping of data and much more.
In the near future, AI will do better and better in segmenting data, and make sure that the algorithms provide the best content possible.
Fake news and sensitive information will be filtered out in a more advanced way than today.
The more we develop, as so AI. Ultimately, we may reach the point where AI can fully replace human beings.
Can do stuff online more than ever before

Brands are taking advantage of paid advertisements
It’s 2019, so businesses know they need to have an active presence on social media. They have profiles on multiple platforms and update them on a daily basis.
While this is definitely necessary for survival, it’s not quite enough.
Companies that want to take their social media strategies to the next level also pay for advertisements.

Developments in social media are constantly changing.
As a marketer, you’ve got to stay up to date with the latest trends to keep your finger on the pulse and effectively reach your target audience.
Based on the research I found, I was able to narrow down the top ten social media trends to keep your eye on in 2019.
Use this list as a reference and guide for positioning your marketing strategy.
I’ll even throw in a bonus one for you. Although this isn’t necessarily a trend, it’s more of a prediction.
I think Twitter is going to make some big changes in 2020. Unlike the rest of my list, it’s more of a gut feeling as opposed to a fact-driven statement, which is why I left it out.
Let me know in the comment section below what do you guys think of it.
